Animal Explorers at the Natural History Museum

For Classes Kg to 2, this exciting programme opens up the Natural History Museum to children. On day one we think about all the different habitats that animals might live in and imagine ourselves there. We also incorporate ‘concrete poetry’ into the activity which is writing poems in the shape of animals!

At the Natural History Museum, we play a treasure hunt, hunting out clues that tell us how animals adapt to their environment. We also enact food chains, with each child understanding how integral each part of the chain is.

On day 3 when we came back to school, we created our own animorphs; thinking about what different animals need in different situations and letting our imaginations run wild.
