Paradise on Earth: Humayun’s Tomb

This programme connects to learning about the history of the Mughal era. On day one we discuss different aspects of Mughal culture – the idea of perfection, paradise, patterns and god etc. We explore Mughal Miniature and Urdu / Farsi poetry and create our own poetry too!

On day two we visit the World Heritage Site, Humayun’s tomb. Students undertake a detailed architectural survey of the site, but also take time to contemplate the sights and smells of the the garden and the impact of the symmetry, the scalea and beauty on our senses and emotions.

On day three we explore more about the building process of the site, imagining we are the hard-working architects who must give updates on the progress of the tomb!
